Unfortunately, we cannot use the military uniform or affiliation when promoting a particular charity and all members are encouraged to participate in this activity at home and not in uniform. Sad news to report the passing of retired Lt Col Thomas L. Cope commander of the 193rd Special Operations Group from 1984-1985.

He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, flying KC-135’s and receiving several medals and commendations. Cope retired as Lieutenant Colonel after twenty seven years with the 193rd Special Operations Group of the PA Air National Guard, where he flew C-130’s and accumulated over 10,000 flying hours without a single accident, he received the Meritorious Service Medal and the PA Commendation Medal

Seventy years ago today, the 347th Fighter Squadron—the predecessors of today's 193rd Special Operations Squadron, @[200923618834:274:193rd Special Operations Wing]—provided air cover over Alba, Italy, to help the French army secure the island for the Allies. After the successful invasion, the squadron operated in southern France before returning to Italy where they spent the remainder of the war.
